I would like someone to illustrate the "trippy" atmosphere the hobbits experience when they are about to be introduced to Tom Bombadil in the Old Forest..

The atmosphere of this artwork comes so close to the feeling I have while reading this part of the book! Absolutely fascinating work.

I love the atmosphere, it almost looks like something is going to jump from the fog and grab the Hobbits!
The only thing that I imagined differently (when reading the book) was the shape of the Barrow-stones - yours are a bit phallic, while ''mine'' were more monolithic.

Thank you!
Yeah I think if I would redo it now again, I would change the look of the stones as well. Actually I would change everything I think :P

One of the most mysterious events from the book. The "Barrow downs" chapter is probably the creepiest part of FOTR for me. You managed to capture the atmosphere perfectly!

Amazing! This is uncannily like the way I imagined it.
I'm not sure what it is about this picture but the whole thing just has an eerie feel to it. And I like it. Because that's the same feeling I got when I read that part in the book!

Are they actually that high?

Well I remember clearly that Tolkien wrote "They found that they were upon an island in the fog."
So either yes they were that high or there was so much fog that it seemed like they were up that high.

Oooo! Excellent! I love this chapter, especially since it's still pristine in my mind without the influence of film. Nice job with the depiction!
