This was a commissioned piece. Knowing beforehand that I would have to give away a painting is normally the only way I can part from it at all. But sometimes I fall in love with it so deeply that there is just no way I could ever let it go. That's what happened with this one, so I will have to do another one.

Also, after the first wash I was really pleased with this one. After the second and third and I was completely desperate. I was close to throwing it away, but I didn't want to accept another failure, so I kept going. The turn came only after I did the rocks, from then on I knew it was a good decision to stick to it. Now it ranges among the favorites of my own paintings.

The girl is based on the painting "The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" by Percy Day [link]

I absolutely love this one. Fantastic work with the values and highlights. I adore the dreamy quality this has. Also, the dragon has an expression like my cat when he's asleep!

Thank you so much! Actually I mixed a lot of red into my base colors (blue and grey) to make it look warmer and feel secure. Think that payed off :)
